Many media outlets and Telegram channels in Russia are reporting on a strange and concerning affair: a truck transporting 1,700 bees from Uzbekistan crossed the border in the Astrakhan region at the beginning of April, but disappeared on its way to a quarantine point in the Kurgan region. According to reports on the SHOT channel, it turns out that the designated quarantine site had no equipment or hives to receive the shipment, which led local beekeepers to turn to the police and the Veterinary Surveillance Service (Rosselkhoznadzor).

The main concern raised by professionals is the impact of the "southern" bees. According to the report on the Двач channel, this is an especially aggressive species that could sting to the point of anaphylactic shock, as well as spread parasites that would wipe out the local bee population in Russia. Additionally, there is a danger that honey produced from these "pirate" hives will be contaminated with salmonella bacteria.

While channels identified with criticism of the administration, such as NEXTA Live (which takes a critical line against Russia), see the affair as a symbol of operational failure and cynically suggest sending the bees to "Putin's bunker," pro-government channels like Царьград ТВ criticize the helplessness of the inspection mechanisms: "It is amazing how a giant truck without veterinary documents crosses the border and vanishes into thin air."

On the other hand, officials are trying to calm the spirits. TASS News Agency reported that at least in Bashkiria, no evidence of the sale of bees from the Uzbek shipment was found. However, the search for the driver and the cargo continues throughout the country, as beekeepers continue to warn of a possible "honey collapse" in many regions.
