[52532] Mass gas leak at a school in the Omsk region; additional safety incidents in Russia
Mass gas leak incident at a school in Tara
During the school day in the city of Tara, in the Omsk region, a serious natural gas leak occurred, leading to the evacuation of students to the hospital. According to Readovka, 15 people were affected, including a teacher and 14 students, during a study tour at a nearby IT club. However, other channels such as Baza and SHOT report a higher number of about 40 students who felt unwell. According to the reports, the source of the leak was maintenance work and pressure testing (opressovka) conducted on a gas line about 250 meters from the school.
The Governor of the Omsk region, Vitaly Khotsenko, reassured that "the lives and health of the children are not in danger" (according to a report on Varlamov News). The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal investigation into the matter on suspicion of negligence and providing services that do not meet safety standards, as reported on 360.ru.
