[51908] Russia formulates new policy towards minors: media restrictions and integration into patriotic activities
Russia tightens control over violent content and promotes 're-education' for minors
The Russian government is promoting new measures concerning teenagers and minors, as evidenced by government documents revealed today, May 6, 2026. According to a report by TASS state news agency, known for its pro-Russian government line, the Kremlin is considering imposing restrictions on the distribution of media materials depicting "attacks on educational institutions, as well as scenes of violence involving children." The report was also confirmed by other Telegram channels such as Раньше всех. Ну почти. and Инцидент Барнаул.
At the same time, TASS reports that the government plans to involve minors serving prison sentences in "patriotic, cultural, and sports events." This initiative was also confirmed by the Петя Первый channel, which represents a line identified with the government's position. The move is perceived as an attempt to use education and physical activity as a means for the re-socialization of juvenile offenders.
Russian officials have not yet released the final drafts of the laws, but the reports point to a formulated government policy to restrict media coverage surrounding school violence, alongside a concentrated effort to instill patriotic values among the young and most vulnerable population within the Russian criminal justice system.
