[47966] The oil pollution crisis in Tuapse: authorities promise cleanup ahead of the tourist season
Oil pollution in Tuapse: promises of cleanup and skepticism
The head of the Tuapse municipal district, Sergei Boyko, stated that the beaches affected by oil product pollution will be cleaned and restored by June 1, and that the city will be ready to welcome tourists for the summer season. According to Boyko in a broadcast on "Solovyov Live" as reported by TASS/Юг, experts have already completed handling the spill in the sea waters, and manual cleanup works are currently underway in specific areas along the coast.
Reports on the cleanup efforts were distributed across many Russian channels, including Раньше всех. Ну почти. and БРИКС Финансы. However, other sources present a more complex picture. The channel 93.RU noted that in the settlement of Tyumenskoye, located about 10 kilometers from Tuapse, intensive cleanup work is being carried out and that volunteers are needed for additional assistance at the site.
At the same time, the channel Не ТВ (which takes a critical line toward the authorities) raised questions about meeting deadlines, citing a history of similar unfulfilled promises in Anapa during 2025 and early 2026. Дневник Десантника also expressed skepticism, wondering why other locations were unable to resolve fuel oil pollution problems in the same way they are now promising in Tuapse.
In the media arena, an attempt at deception was also recorded: СИГНАЛ reported that the Kuban operational headquarters clarified that an interview allegedly published with Governor Kondratyev on the "Anapa Region" website was "fake." According to the report, the site was hacked by attackers who disseminated false information about the handling of fires and drone damage in the region.
