Extensive wave of air strikes across Ukraine

During the last 24 hours, a massive drone attack carried out by Russia against targets throughout Ukraine was reported. According to reports from Russian sources such as the military blogger 'Lokhmatyy Z', over 400 'Geran-2' and 'Gerbera' drones were used. These sources, identified with the Russian pro-war line, claim that this is a tactical shift from combined missile attacks to the use of swarms designed to wear down Ukrainian air defense systems.

The city of Ternopil suffered the hardest blow in this wave. The Telegram channel 'Military Observer' noted that the targets included warehouses and facilities of the 'Orion' radio plant. The channel 'Strana.ua', which presents a more balanced position, also confirmed the depth of the damage and the fact that parts of the city were disconnected from the power grid following the strikes.

Simultaneously, the channel 'Ukraina.ru' – a body identified with hawkish Russian positions – reported targeted strikes on assembly points of Ukrainian forces in the Vinnytsia region, as well as strikes on targets in the Kharkiv, Sumy, and Odesa regions. The channel cites the Russian Ministry of Defense confirming that "defense industry plants and energy facilities were destroyed."

On the Ukrainian side, the UNIAN news agency reported ongoing concerns regarding ballistic attacks and the use of 'Kinzhal' missiles throughout the day, while warning the public in western cities. BBC Russian notes on the other hand that the Russian Ministry of Defense claims to have shot down over 2,600 Ukrainian drones in the last week, a figure that is difficult to independently verify and constitutes part of Moscow's narrative in the context of the overall aerial struggle.
