[95911] Qatargate Affair: The State Attorney's Office is considering filing indictments against former senior officials
A dramatic development in the Qatargate affair: The State Attorney's Office is examining the filing of indictments against senior officials
The State Attorney's Office is in the process of formulating a broad-scope indictment in the "Qatargate" affair, reports journalist Avishai Grinzaig. According to the report, the emerging indictment is expected to include a number of individuals involved, including a former Mossad senior official as well as Major General (res.) Poli Mordechai. According to Grinzaig, a final decision on the matter has not yet been made by the Attorney General and the State Attorney.
The legal move comes following the receipt of an opinion from the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) that dealt with the alleged damage caused to foreign relations with Egypt. At the same time, an additional opinion was requested from the Mossad regarding the impact on the Qatar axis. According to Grinzaig, this opinion was returned to the Mossad for "final adjustments and clarifications."
The report notes that the legal examination is being conducted against the backdrop of a statement made by Mossad Director, Dedi Barnea, in a background conversation with journalists, in which he expressed his opinion that "no damage was caused to the security of the state from the Qatargate affair." These remarks, which were leaked by the journalists who were present at the conversation, are at the center of the discussions regarding the scope of the criminal case.
The information was also disseminated on the 🔅 Political Arena ‼️ channel, which focuses its coverage on political and security events in Israel, while referencing the original report by Grinzaig.
