The Donald Trump administration has recently been increasing diplomatic pressure on Oman, demanding that it reduce its ties with Iran and even consider severing relations with it, reported the 'Wall Street Journal'. The reports, published by Arab World 301 News and Hadashot 360, point to a shift in American policy toward Muscat.

According to Arab World 301 News, known for its line that sharply criticizes Iran and the American administration, Washington currently views Oman's policy as "hostile to American interests." Oman has served until now as a central mediator between Tehran and Washington, but now it seems that the US is setting a clear ultimatum: Muscat must "choose between tightening relations with Tehran and preserving the strategic partnership with Washington."

Similarly, Hadashot 360 report that the US sees Oman's neutral position as "increasingly unfriendly." According to the channel, the American demand is that Oman adopt a tougher approach toward Iran. As of now, no official response has been issued by Muscat or Washington regarding reports of the pressure being applied.
