Discrepancies in Netanyahu and Herzog's diaries raise questions about secret meetings
The disclosure of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's 2025 diaries, published following a petition by the Hatzlacha Association, raises questions regarding the reporting of his meetings with President Isaac Herzog. According to reports, there is a striking discrepancy between the documentation in the Prime Minister's diary and the President's diary.
According to a report in Moment News - Military and Security and Voice of News, a meeting at the President's residence on April 11, 2025, appears in the Prime Minister's diary, a meeting which "does not appear at all" in President Herzog's diary. While another meeting held in June, during Operation "Am Kalavi," was reported as required, the April meeting remained out of the public eye until the exposure of the diaries now.
Journalists Amir Ettinger and Yuval Segev noted that this constitutes "strange conduct that raises questions," adding that there may be additional meetings that were deleted from official records for various reasons. According to Ettinger and Segev, the gap between the records raises suspicion regarding the scope of unreported meetings between the two.
As of now, no official response has been received to resolve the contradiction between the Prime Minister's diary and the President's diary regarding the April 11 meeting. The issue is drawing criticism regarding the level of transparency of senior echelons in managing their work diaries.
