[73245] Escalation in the Gulf: Exchange of fire between the US and Iran following ceasefire violation
Security escalation in the Gulf: The US and Iran in exchange of strikes
Peak tension has been recorded over the last day in the Persian Gulf, after US Central Command (CENTCOM) accused Iran of a "grave violation of the ceasefire." According to the command's reports, Iran launched a ballistic missile toward Kuwait, which was successfully intercepted by local forces, this just hours after Iran attempted to attack ships in the Strait of Hormuz using five suicide UAVs.
As part of an official military response, American forces intercepted the Iranian UAVs and attacked an Iranian ground control station in the Bandar Abbas area, which, according to reports on 'Abu Ali Express', prevented the launch of a sixth aircraft. Official US sources emphasized that the operation was "defensive" and intended to remove immediate threats to forces and ships in the region, as was also published on 'Voice of the News on Telegram'.
Conversely, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards presented a different narrative. In 'Iran News', it was noted that Tehran claims the firing toward an American base in Kuwait was carried out as a "determined response" to attacks carried out by the US military on Iranian territory. This channel, identified with the Iranian narrative, noted that no official confirmation was received from Washington regarding damage to their base.
The incident has brought high alert to the region. In a report by 'Channel 8200 News', it was noted that the Kuwaiti government strongly condemned the attacks and stated that it "reserves the right to take steps" to protect its security. Reports from the field, including explosions heard in the Bandar Abbas area, indicate a significant strike that has led to a broad escalation beyond the diplomatic framework accepted until now.
