Severe escalation against IDF personnel: protesters arrived at the home of a career soldier
Overnight (May 27, 2026), an unusual escalation occurred in protest actions by extremist Haredim against conscription. According to reports on the channels Political-Security Cabinet - Moriah Asraf & Doron Kadosh and Amit Segal, a group of about 10-15 protesters arrived at the private home of a security NCO serving at Prison 10 (Beit Lid), who resides in the city of Acre. The protesters pounded on his front door, vandalized the electrical cabinet and lobby areas in the building, while shouting slogans such as: "We will die and not enlist."
In a report by Hershkowitz & Grobeis - The Haredi Angle, which specializes in coverage of the Haredi sector, it was noted that the incident took place following the arrest of three Haredi deserters who were transferred to the Military Police, leading to additional protests in front of the police station at Sha'ar Binyamin. Protesters were quoted on The Haredi Angle Channel as shouting: "Military Police open up, we also know how to arrive at such hours."
Chief of Staff Zamir reacted sharply to the events. In a statement published in many media outlets, including Ben Caspit and Suleiman & Blumenthal, the Chief of Staff stated: "I strongly condemn and view with gravity any attempt to harm and intimidate IDF personnel who protect the country from performing their duties according to the law. The IDF expects law enforcement and public order authorities to act decisively against the rioters".
The incident is perceived within the security establishment as crossing a red line, with military officials defining the act as "severe and unacceptable". So far, reports focus on the establishment's condemnation of the attempts to intimidate career soldiers in their private homes.
