Gaza Envelope residents petition the High Court of Justice demanding the establishment of a national rehabilitation mechanism
According to a report by the Zirat HaHadashot channel, residents of the kibbutzim Nir Oz, Be'eri, and Kfar Aza are in the process of drafting a petition to the High Court of Justice against the government. The move is intended to compel the state to establish a designated rehabilitation mechanism for residents who "cannot or do not wish to return to their homes following the disaster."
The publication, which is based on a report in the 'Yedioth Ahronoth' newspaper, highlights the ongoing distress of the Gaza Envelope residents. According to Zirat HaHadashot, the petition comes against the backdrop of a feeling of lack of response from government officials to the needs of the population that remains displaced from its homes.
As of now, this is an initiative of three central kibbutzim that suffered severe damage, with the main goal of the petitioners being to secure a long-term compensation and rehabilitation outline that will enable stability for those who are unable or unwilling to return to their communities following the difficult events they experienced.
