[64888] Chaos and loss of control at the Ministry of Education: Testimonies on the conduct of Minister Yoav Kisch
Chaos and screaming: A storm in the Minister of Education's office
In recent days, sources in the Ministry of Education have reported a difficult atmosphere of "chaos and loss of control" surrounding Minister of Education Yoav Kisch. According to reports published in Hadar Milhama 🎗️ and Hadashot Bezman (relying on a Channel 12 investigation), the background to the tension is the exposure of data indicating particularly low achievements among Israel's students.
Testimonies on the Minister's conduct
Sources inside the ministry describe unusual behavior by the minister. According to Hadar Milhama, an official in the ministry testified that: "The minister is raging. Screaming all the time. Screaming and irritable and everyone in the office can hear. He bangs on tables." Additionally, it is alleged that the minister clarified his future political intentions to ministry staff by saying: "Keep in mind, I will be the next Minister of Education."
Professional interference and political priorities
Alongside the claims of personal loss of control, complaints are emerging regarding the disruption of professional work and intense preoccupation with internal politics:
- Limiting information: The minister gave an explicit order not to communicate with Gal Alon, Director General of RAMA (The National Authority for Measurement and Evaluation).
- Politicization: A senior official in the ministry claimed that resources are being diverted to primaries instead of education, and noted that the Chief of Staff to the Director General, Nissim Tubul, was instructed to deal only with political issues.
"We are raising a generation of illiterates, and they are busy with primaries," a senior ministry official concluded regarding their frustration with the current situation.
