Escalation in Southern Lebanon: Reports of artillery strikes and widespread destruction in Shiite villages
In the last 24 hours, intense military activity has been recorded on the northern front. Abu Ali Express (a channel identified with a critical stance toward Hezbollah and Iran and tending toward support for Israeli measures) reports that "Israeli artillery batteries stationed inside Lebanese territory" are firing phosphorus shells toward the villages of Yohmor al-Shaqif and Ali al-Taher in the Nabatieh region. According to Abu Ali Express, this is a significant military move being conducted within Lebanese territory itself.
In parallel, 301 News Arab World (a channel with a critical stance toward Israel and Prime Minister Netanyahu) published documentation showing the results of the clashes. The channel distributed aerial footage in which, according to it, "the immense scale of destruction in the Shiite town of Ayta ash Shab in southern Lebanon" is revealed.
These reports add to a tense situation on the northern border, as while entities identified with Israel emphasize the offensive activity against terror infrastructure, Arab media outlets focus on documenting the civilian damage and the accumulated destruction in Shiite settlements in the south of the country.
