Police enforcement wave: Extensive arrests in the North and weapons seizures
In an extensive operation by the Northern District Police, Border Police officers, and the National Guard, dozens of suspects were arrested this morning for offenses of possessing illegal weapons in Arab society. According to reports from Hot News and ynet news, the operation took place at the conclusion of a covert investigation by the Northern District Central Unit. The Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, and the Police Commissioner, Kobi Shabtai (Rav Nitzav Danny Levy), are expected to present the findings of the operation at a special press briefing at the district headquarters in Nazareth.
At the same time, Hot News reports on an operational success by Nahariya station police officers, who uncovered at two separate locations – in the village of Sheikh Danon and in Nahariya – FN-type weapons and large amounts of ammunition that were concealed and ready for use. In addition to the weapons, cash sums and checks totaling approximately 1,200,000 NIS were seized, suspected as proceeds from criminal activity. Two suspects were arrested and brought for a remand hearing.
Increased police activity in the center of the country
In another arena, the Tel Aviv police recorded achievements in the fight against street violence. According to the police spokesperson's announcement on Hot News, a 50-year-old resident of the city was arrested on suspicion of brutally attacking a 78-year-old elderly man with a board to his head on Pinkas Street last Sunday. Officers managed to locate the weapon used in the attack, which had bloodstains on it, by using technological means and covert investigation.
In another incident in the city, two 13-year-old minors were arrested on suspicion of rioting, making threats, and attacking a clerk at a pharmacy on Allenby Street. The police stated that further arrests are expected in this case.
