Diplomatic contacts: Pakistan is following the emerging US-Iran agreement
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry issued an official statement today, May 7, 2026, regarding reports of an agreement taking shape between Washington and Tehran. The Hadashot Mehashetah Telegram channel (which takes a critical line toward Hamas and the Israeli leadership) quoted the ministry spokesperson emphasizing the importance of maintaining trust: "As mediators, we will not lose the trust of both sides in disclosing the details of the agreement."
At the same time, Kan 11 | Arab-Palestinian Desk – a channel that sometimes presents a more sympathetic line toward Hamas – reported on the words of the ministry in Islamabad, according to which "there is no way to know if both sides are close or far from signing an agreement, but we are optimistic."
As part of the official responses, they emphasized in Islamabad that the location of the signing of the agreement could have great symbolic significance. According to Hadashot Mehashetah on Telegram, it was stated that "we do not know where the agreement between Washington and Tehran will be signed, but it would be a source of pride for us if it were Islamabad."
The reports come against the backdrop of regional tension, as various actors are closely monitoring the potential thaw in relations between the powers, which is expected to significantly affect the Palestinian and Middle Eastern arena.
