[49218] Alarming rise in youth delinquency rates in Israel: New data revealed in the Knesset
Alarming surge in youth crime in Israel
Israel is reporting a negative and worrying trend in the field of youth delinquency. According to ynet news, there has been a "trend reversal" with a "surge in the number of teenagers who have had a criminal file opened against them by the police."
The issue was brought up for an urgent discussion in government institutions, as Knesset Channel 99 reported that the Committee for the Rights of the Child is convening to discuss the "alarming data on the surge in youth crime." As part of the discussion, data from the Knesset Research and Information Center (RIC) was presented, revealing a "sharp and alarming increase in the scope of youth delinquency in Israel over the past year."
As of now, law enforcement officials and legislators are required to examine the roots of the phenomenon and the social implications stemming from the significant increase in criminal files among the young population.
