[107808] Report: Coalition examining moving elections up to October 26
Contacts to move the elections up by one day
According to a report by journalist Amit Segal, who is identified with right-wing positions and political reports close to centers of power, officials in the coalition are currently examining an initiative to move the general elections up by just one day, so that they will be held on October 26, 2026.
Position of the Legal Counsel
Concurrently with the emerging political move, Amit Segal reports that the Knesset Legal Counsel insists on the need for procedural transparency. In her view, even if the elections are held on their original date and are not moved up, the Knesset must pass an explicit law for the dissolution of the Knesset to ensure a proper and transparent procedure.
