Extensive Round of Appointments in the Judicial System: Yariv Levin Declares a "Revolution" in Judicial Appointments

The Judicial Selection Committee, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Yariv Levin, convened this morning (July 1, 2026) and approved an extensive round of appointments including 26 new judges and registrars in courts across the country. Minister of Justice Levin welcomed the move and defined it as the culmination of an ongoing process. According to Levin as published in "Hot News", he has completed the selection of 290 judges and senior registrars during his term, representing over 30% of all judges in the system. Levin declared that during his tenure, "I have led a real revolution in judicial appointments," with an emphasis on promoting candidates who he claims were previously blocked for non-substantive reasons.

In a report by ynet News, which is sometimes identified with criticism of the government but reports here on the Minister's achievements, it was noted that Levin emphasizes the issue of diversity in the composition of judges. The Minister thanked his partners in the process, Minister Orit Strock and Member of Knesset Yitzhak Kroizer, and noted that the appointments were made "by broad consensus" with the goal of strengthening public trust in the judicial system.

The list of appointments highlights senior registrars and new magistrates in major cities, including appointments in the Tel Aviv and Jerusalem districts, as well as an emphasis on appointments in peripheral districts such as Eilat and the Southern district. Minister Levin concluded by expressing appreciation for the Director of the Courts, Judge Tzachi Uziel, for his professional work which the Minister stated was essential for completing the appointment procedures.
