A wave of reports in Iranian media outlets, mostly identified with the official establishment and the military arm, report today (June 16, 2026) on the "lifting of the US maritime blockade" over Iran's ports. According to the report by صداوسیما (Iranian Broadcasting Authority), the operation to lift the blockade has been carried out, with vessels now operating without the restrictions that were previously imposed.

Despite the reports of relief in maritime pressure, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) emphasized that there has been no change in traffic procedures in the strategic strait. According to the Revolutionary Guards' Telegram channel, "all vessels seeking to pass through the Strait of Hormuz must continue to coordinate their movement with the Guard's naval forces." Similar statements were published by تهران آنلاین, which emphasizes the continuation of Iranian control in the area.

At the same time, more specific reports published by Tasnim News Agency and Press TV note that three oil tankers and two ships carrying basic commodities have already passed through the blockade zone without interference. Conversely, an Al Jazeera correspondent was quoted confirming the oversight of the process and the fact that ships are entering and exiting the ports without obstruction.

It should be noted that most of the sources reporting on the event, such as آخرین خبر and خبرفوری‌نیوز, are entities close to the government in Tehran, which present the move as an achievement against US policy. As of now, no official confirmation of these reports has been received from US officials.
