The Brazilian coach Osmar Vieira and his assistant have returned to Tehran to lead the preparations of the Persepolis team for the Asian qualifying games.
The return of the professional staff to Tehran
On June 14, 2026, many sports channels in Iran, led by Varzesh3, reported on the return of the team's Brazilian coach, Osmar Vieira, to Tehran. Together with him arrived his assistant, Rafael Toledo, with the aim of directly starting the team's preparations for the Asian competition qualifying matches.
The official website of the Persepolis club emphasized that this is "the beginning of a new season of preparations for the Reds," as the players will now train under the direct supervision of Vieira after a period in which he worked remotely. IRNA News Agency (considered an official state media outlet) also noted that Vieira landed at Imam Khomeini International Airport after arriving on a flight via Istanbul.
At the same time, Football 360 reported on further strengthening of the squad, with the return of additional foreign players to the capital, including Montenegrin Marko Bakić and Daniel Guedes, who joined the training camp.
Conversely, the Iran International Sport channel – identified with a more critical position towards the Iranian establishment – emphasized in its coverage that Vieira was forced to leave Iran in the past against the backdrop of the "outbreak of war," thereby placing his return in a broader context of security stability in the region.
