[82372] Crisis in negotiations: Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf declares that continuing negotiations with the US is not possible
Diplomatic crisis: Iran threatens to stop contacts with the US
Following the Israeli Air Force strike in the Dahiyeh district of Beirut, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, declared that the continuation of the negotiation process with the United States is "no longer possible." According to him, the attack serves as evidence that the US "either lacks the will to fulfill its obligations or lacks the capacity to do so."
Reports in sources identified with the Iranian regime, such as the IRNA news agency and the news channel identified with the Revolutionary Guards, quote Ghalibaf as arguing that granting an Israeli "green light" will not lead to achievements in negotiations, and that the "good cop, bad cop game" has become irrelevant.
At the same time, Iran International, which presents a critical line toward the Iranian regime, reported that Mohammad Marandi, a member of the Iranian negotiating team, confirmed in a post on X that "as of now, no further negotiations will take place." These sources note that the statement comes on the day when, according to Donald Trump, a ceasefire agreement between the parties was supposed to be signed.
Conversely, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected Ghalibaf's claims. In an official response published on free networks, as reported on Vahid Online, the ministry claimed that Iran is "lying as usual." Israel emphasized that the attack in Lebanon came in response to Hezbollah's incessant firing toward Israeli territory, and that it "will not tolerate fire toward its sovereignty."
