National Precipitation Report: Severe Gaps Between Iranian Provinces
According to data from the Iranian Meteorological Service, the country experienced an average precipitation amount of 225.4 mm as of May 30, 2026 (the 9th of the month of Khordad), representing an increase of 2.9% compared to the long-term average, which stands at 218.9 mm. However, the regional picture reveals dramatic gaps between the country's provinces.
Hormozgan Province leads the country with a significant 76.7% increase in precipitation amounts above the norm. Conversely, Tehran is suffering from a severe shortage, with a 39% decrease in rainfall amounts relative to normal conditions.
