Rise in the advertising of censorship circumvention services (VPN) on social media in Iran

During May 31, 2026, an increase was recorded in the marketing activity of Virtual Private Network (VPN) services on various Telegram channels. While some of the channels focus on sports or news content, they effectively serve as platforms for distributing services to hack internet blockades in Iran.

According to the report on the Esteghlal Fans Channel, which markets a service called "Astro VIP Server", browsing packages are offered at prices ranging from 100,000 Tomans for 5 GB to 800,000 Tomans for 50 GB. The channel emphasizes that the service includes "support for all devices and operators" and offers a "money-back guarantee in case of disconnection".

Simultaneously, the channel Breaking News - News - America - War - Attack, which adopts an editorial line focused on security and political news, publishes an offer for the sale of V2Ray VIP servers. According to this channel at this link, the price of a single gigabyte stands at 48,000 Tomans, while an unlimited monthly package is offered at 1,100,000 Tomans.

The shared publications emphasize the urgency of the purchase, with some of the promotions defined as "valid until the end of the evening only". It is evident that this is a vibrant black market exploiting the high demand for tools to bypass digital censorship in the country, while using Telegram-based technical support systems to sell access.
