According to the Telegram channel Sport Bad News, sources at Atletico denied receiving any official offer from Barcelona, while accusing the Catalans of spreading false information.
The confrontation quickly escalated to the level of viral trolling. Atletico Madrid published in an official statement an ironic and satirical offer to Barcelona, including "4 tickets to a Bad Bunny concert, an annual subscription to the newspaper ABC, and a package of hummus." In response, Barcelona published a sharp and equally blunt reply, which included a provocative list of items intended to mock Diego Simeone's style of play.
