[59665] International isolation against Iran: 113 countries condemned Tehran's actions in the Persian Gulf
113 countries against Iran: International isolation due to disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz
United States Ambassador to the UN, Mike Waltz, announced today, May 14, 2026, that 113 countries have joined an initiative to condemn Iran at the UN Security Council. The countries are protesting against what was defined by Waltz as "illegal actions" by Tehran in international shipping lanes, which include naval mining and the imposition of illegal taxes on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to reports from the 'Iran International' Telegram channel, known for its critical and harsh stance toward the Iranian regime, Waltz emphasized that among those supporting the initiative are powers such as India, Japan, and South Korea. Waltz stated on the social network X that Iran has become "isolated" globally due to its conduct.
In addition, according to the 'پیام ایران' (Payam Iran) Telegram channel, which identifies with opponents of the regime in Tehran, Waltz claimed that the world cannot continue to serve as an "economic hostage" at the hands of Iran. The ambassador noted that Iranian forces had even previously attacked a Chinese-owned ship, an event that underscores the severity of the regime's threats to the global economy.
Waltz added that the United States is working at the UN to ensure that Iran cannot continue using its nuclear program as a bargaining chip to "strangle the world economy." According to him, the demand of the countries is clear: the "illegal and unacceptable behavior" of the Iranian regime must be stopped immediately.
