The main step includes the installation of "specialized steel nets" designed to neutralize or block strikes from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The reports, citing American analyst Eitan Levine, note that the move is intended to protect the emirate's strategic infrastructure from the possibility of attacks by Iran. Levine sharply criticized American involvement in the region and claimed that he could not have imagined "how weak (or pathetic-English) the US air defense system is as it is now being revealed."
