According to reports by Iran International and Iran International Sport, which are identified as critical of the Iranian regime, the chairman of the Iran Wrestling Federation, Alireza Dabir, revealed that sports facilities in western Tehran sustained severe damage during the last 40 days of fighting. Dabir claims that the site was hit by "between 150 and 160 missiles" during this period.

According to Iran International reports, immediately after the attacks began in early March 2026, an order was issued to evacuate all facilities at the "Azadi" complex in Tehran. Following the evacuation, the regime's security forces, including the Revolutionary Guards (Basij) and special units, took control of the facilities, including the 12,000-seat hall of the Azadi Stadium. According to the network, the airstrikes that occurred on March 5, 2026, led to the total destruction of this hall.

At the same time, the official news agency IRNA, identified as a government media outlet representing the regime's narrative, confirmed the existence of financial damage amounting to "over 400 billion Tomans" caused to the wrestling facilities and the national complex. Dabir was quoted by the agency as saying: "For 40 days, the federation and its surroundings were attacked by about 150 enemy missiles."

Reports from both sides agree on the scale of the heavy financial damage caused to the sports infrastructure, although Iran International emphasizes the military use the regime made of the civilian sports facilities before they became a target for attacks, a detail that is not emphasized in the state agency's reports.
