Assessments in the Iranian political system: Is the war renewing in the coming week?
On May 11, 2026, widespread reports were circulated in Iranian media outlets by a commentator associated with the state broadcasting network (صدا و سیما), Khosh-Cheshm, who warned of a possible renewal of the war within a week. According to publications in Akhbar-e Fori - Urgent News - US War Urgent and in Urgent News - Negotiation - Urgent War, the commentator's assessment has gained momentum across a variety of local channels.
The commentator added in a Payam-e Iran message an inflammatory statement according to which "the US and Israel will suffer military blows from which they will be unable to recover." Similar reports also appeared in Hut News and in Akharin Khabar, emphasizing the expectation of a near-term escalation.
However, the reports sparked skeptical reactions from users and social media accounts. In the channel Urgent News - War 🚨 Urgent US News, they noted cynically that "whoever wants to know what will really happen should bet on the opposite of what Khosh-Cheshm predicts." The channel Payam-e Iran also emphasized that generally, the forecasts of said commentator turn out to be the opposite of reality, hinting that these statements serve as psychological warfare or are consistently erroneous assessments.
As of the time of this writing, no official indications have been published by military or political officials in Israel or the United States supporting these assessments.
