A large-scale economic fraud case has been exposed in Iran, referred to by the media as the 'Father of Mobile' fraud. According to a report by the اخبارفوری خبرفوری جنگ امریکا فوری channel, a 50-year-old suspect whose identity was obscured used a fake identity to defraud over 750 people, under false promises of profitable investments and the purchase of mobile phones at discounted prices.
The scale of the fraud is estimated at 800 billion Tomans, a sum three times larger than that recorded in the 'Kourosh Company' affair (317 billion Tomans), as also noted in the فناوری فوری📡 channel. The suspect used aggressive marketing methods and even offered 45% profits to some investors to gain their initial trust. After complaints piled up, the suspect tried to flee while spreading false rumors about emigrating to Canada, but was arrested by the Hormozgan police while attempting to escape the country.
The affair has sparked sharp public criticism over the helplessness of the authorities. According to criminologist Peyman Haj Mahmoud Attar, the supervisory system in Iran fails time and time again: "The intervention of oversight bodies usually happens only when hundreds or thousands of investors have already lost their money."
