Attack against a container ship in the waters of the Persian Gulf
According to reports from international media outlets and American officials, a container ship owned by the French shipping company CMA CGM was attacked on Tuesday evening while crossing the Persian Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel, identified as the "CMA CGM San Antonio", suffered a direct hit from a surface-to-sea cruise missile.
CBS News, citing two American officials, reported that as a result of the attack, several crew members of Filipino nationality were injured. The French company CMA CGM officially confirmed that one of its ships was indeed attacked by a missile during its voyage in the Strait of Hormuz, which caused damage to the ship and injuries among the crew.
Maritime tracking data brought by Iran International indicate that the ship was in the Dubai area until Tuesday afternoon, but the exact details of its location at the time of the impact have not yet been clarified. The 'Akharin Khabar' agency noted that this is a significant escalation in the maritime domain.
At the same time, an additional report by Akharin Khabar Khouzestan cites data from the NBC network, according to which Pentagon officials claim that since the beginning of the ceasefire, dozens of acts of aggression have been recorded by Iran against military and commercial vessels in the area, including firing upon and seizing container ships. The reports come from a variety of sources in Iran, some of which have an official orientation or are identified with Iranian media lines, reporting the incident as an accomplished fact.
