According to a report by Iran International, a channel associated with the exiled Iranian opposition, Bakarzadeh implored the public and the world not to ignore his impending punishment: "They requested: 'Do not simply pass over the death sentence'," the channel stated in its report.
The appeal was simultaneously distributed by the National Council of Iran (Iranncorg), a body associated with the Iranian monarchist movement led by Reza Pahlavi. The National Council published Bakarzadeh's words while using hashtags calling for regime change and solidarity with the struggle against executions in Iran.
