Deadly shooting incident in Sistan and Baluchestan

On Wednesday morning, April 30, 2026, a serious shooting incident occurred in the city of Zahedan, the capital of Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan province. According to a report by the Telegram channel 'اخبار جنگ | ایران | افغانستان', which is identified with general news coverage, three members of the security forces were killed and one other was wounded in an attack by gunmen in the Shirabad area.

Various sources presented conflicting data regarding the identity of the casualties and the circumstances. The opposition Telegram channel پیام ایران, which sharply criticizes the Iranian regime, reported that the incident began at approximately 08:30 AM on Bagheri Street. According to this report, which is based in part on announcements by local groups, Baluch gunmen opened fire on a police force vehicle.

'پیام ایران' noted that initially, a varying number of casualties were reported, but later the provincial police headquarters confirmed that the death toll had risen to three, after one of the wounded, Ali-Asghar Galdavi, died of his wounds. The channel added that security forces responded with an increased presence, blocked roads, and closed access to the Shirabad area.

At the same time, agencies identified with the regime, as quoted by 'پیام ایران', described the event as an attack on a patrol unit that was engaged in "securing public order." The event highlights the ongoing security tension in the Sistan and Baluchestan region, a focal point known for frequent violent incidents between security forces and local armed elements.
