According to Khamian Pezeshkian and Akharin Khabar, naval forces took control of 50 vessels and detained approximately 400 activists from around the world. On the other hand, IRGC News and the IRNA News Agency report, based on Israeli Army Radio and Channel 12, that 21 vessels out of a fleet of 58 were intercepted, while threatening further action against the remainder. In an earlier report, IRNA stated that there were only seven vessels involved.

On the diplomatic front, Akharin Khabar reported that Turkey and Spain called for the formation of a "unified international position" against what they defined as an "illegal interception" of the aid flotilla.
