A night of large-scale drone attacks in Ukraine: lethal strikes in Kherson and explosions across the country

During the night and morning of June 3, 2026, Ukraine experienced an intense wave of unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) attacks by the Russian military. Air raid alerts and warnings were activated in many regions, including Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Rivne, as air defense systems operated across the country.

Lethal strike and heavy damage in Kherson

The most severe consequences of the drone attack in the last 24 hours were recorded in the Kherson region:

• Casualties: An 86-year-old woman was killed in the Dniprovskyi district of Kherson as a result of a drone strike on a residential building on the evening of June 2. 19 other civilians, including a child, were wounded with varying degrees of severity.


• Infrastructure damage: The attacks struck 37 different settlements in the region, causing heavy damage to 11 high-rise buildings, 25 private houses, gas lines, and agricultural equipment.

Explosions and aerial penetrations in the east and north

• Kharkiv and Sumy: This morning, a series of powerful explosions were heard in the cities of Sumy and Kharkiv. The Ukrainian Air Force identified drone movement over the Kharkiv region heading south.


• Rivne Region: A powerful explosion was heard in the city of Sarny following the penetration of drones into the region's airspace, after a jet aircraft was identified crossing the northern Zhytomyr region toward Rivne.


• Kyiv and Chernihiv regions: A group of Russian drones penetrated from the north of the Chernihiv region and moved toward the city of Slavutych and the Kyiv area, leading to the activation of prolonged alerts in the capital region that ended in the early morning hours.

Planned infrastructure disruptions

Parallel to the security events, residents in several cities are dealing today with scheduled service outages due to planned maintenance work:

• Kharkiv: In the Kholodnohirskyi district, gas supply was suspended for repair work by the company "Gazmerezhi".


• Dnipro region: In the city of Dnipro, as well as in Pavlohrad and Zhovti Vody, power outages were recorded on selected streets due to planned grid work.
