Iran prepares for extensive farewell ceremonies
The Funeral Committee in Iran published today, June 22, 2026, the detailed schedule for the mourning, farewell, and burial ceremonies of the one referred to in these sources as the "Martyred Leader" and "Leader of the Nation." According to the committee's announcement, as published on Al-Mayadeen, the official ceremonies will begin on Saturday, July 4, 2026, corresponding to the 19th of the month of Muharram. Subsequently, according to an additional report by Al-Mayadeen channel, prayers and farewell ceremonies will be held in the city of Qom on Tuesday, July 7.
Regarding events outside the borders of Iran, Al-Mayadeen Iraq reported that the farewell and burial ceremonies of the "Martyred Leader" will be held in the cities of Najaf and Karbala in Iraq on Wednesday, July 8. The series of events will continue on Thursday, July 9, with a ceremony in Mashhad, as noted in an official publication by Al-Mayadeen.
