In a series of statements conveyed to Al Jazeera, a senior official in Hezbollah claimed today that Israel's military actions are intended to achieve strategic goals beyond ongoing combat. According to the official, as also reported by Shehab Agency | Breaking and the Quds News Network, the goal of the escalation is "to take control of the Ali al-Tahir heights and hold bargaining chips against Lebanon."

In addition, the official stated that Israel aspires "to institutionalize freedom of action outside the framework of the Iranian-American agreement." This is a central narrative in media outlets identified with the Axis of Resistance, which presents Israeli military activity as an attempt to undermine broader international arrangements in the region.

According to him, "We are exercising our right to respond to Israeli aggression from a position of defense in order to force the enemy to commit to a ceasefire."
