On Friday, June 19, 2026, the Military Wing of the Islamic Resistance published a series of statements reporting fierce battles in the sector between Kafr Tibnit and Ali al-Taher in southern Lebanon. According to official announcements by the organization distributed through channels such as The Military Wing - News Coverage, Hezbollah forces managed to halt a maneuvering attempt by an Israeli armored and infantry force in the area they refer to as the "Ali al-Taher basement."

In the official statement no. 1 by the organization, it was claimed that the fighters lured the Israeli force into a "killing zone" (مقتل) and destroyed three Merkava tanks using anti-tank missiles. The organization emphasized that these operations are being carried out as part of "Operation Ashura" and in response to what they defined as "the violation of the ceasefire by the Israeli enemy."

Media affiliated with Hezbollah added that the organization's forces had to contend with an attempt by an additional Israeli force to advance under a smoke screen in order to evacuate casualties, and that they attacked this force using mortar shells and rockets. The 'Al-Mayadeen' network reported that the fighters "laid siege" to the routes leading to the sector and declare that the area "will remain immune to enemy infiltration."
