Military escalation in southern Lebanon: Hard battles in the Nabatieh district
On June 19, 2026, channels identified with the Axis of Resistance, led by Al Mayadeen, reported unusual security events in the southern Lebanon region. According to the channel's reports, the "hardest, most intense and violent battles" took place in the Kafr Tebnit and Ali al-Tahar area, amid attempts by IDF forces to advance in the sector.
Parallel to the ground fighting, extensive airstrikes by the Israeli Air Force were reported in the villages of Harouf, al-Sharqiya, Kafr Joz, Kafr Sir, and in the city of Nabatieh. Al Mayadeen reported "martyrs and wounded civilians" as a result of these bombings, while the Lebanesenews24 network claimed these were "massacres committed by the Israeli enemy against civilians in residential homes."
From the resistance side, it was stated that the fighters are waging a stubborn campaign. Al Mayadeen Iraq emphasized that the Kafr Tebnit-Ali al-Tahar area "will remain immune to enemy penetration." Lebanesenews24 even claimed that IDF armored vehicles caught fire as a result of direct strikes.
In reports cited from Israeli media by the Quds News Network, it was noted that the situation in Lebanon is "very dangerous for the fighters" and is exacting a heavy price in blood. Media channels in Lebanon point to evacuation operations by Israeli medical units from the area as evidence of the harsh results of the "major security event" that took place in the sector, as reported in Al Mayadeen.
