[85299] General Amir Hatami: Iran is Strengthening Its Deterrence Capability Against External Threats
Deterrence Threats and an Iranian Show of Force
In a series of statements published today, June 16, 2026, General Amir Hatami, a senior official in the Iranian military, emphasized his country's resilience in the face of the international community. According to a report by Al-Mayadeen Channel, which is identified with the Axis of Resistance and disseminates positions close to Iran and Hezbollah, Hatami claimed that "Iran is shining more than ever in the international arena and our borders are stronger than ever" (source).
Regarding Tehran's military strategy, Hatami noted that the state intends to "strengthen the Iranian victory by enhancing deterrence, so that no one will dare think about attacking our country" (source). These remarks reflect the Iranian perception that seeks to prevent military actions against it through a continuous display of power.
At the same time, the channel בתوقית بيروت (Beirut Time) – a media outlet that presents an editorial line supporting Iran and the Shiite organizations in the region – reported that Hatami criticized the "enemy's" assessments regarding the Iranian people. According to him, "the enemy's assessment of the Iranian people was mistaken," as the Iranians have proven their readiness to defend "the homeland, their beliefs, and the Islamic government" (source).
At the end of his remarks, Hatami delivered a direct threatening message to those who would provoke Iran's sovereignty: "If the enemy makes any mistake, it will face accumulated rage that will make matters extremely difficult for it" (source). These statements come against the backdrop of ongoing regional tensions and Tehran's attempts to project internal stability and military strength.
