Security escalation in southern Lebanon: Extensive strikes in Nabatieh and its surroundings
Throughout the day (May 7, 2026), an intensive wave of IDF strikes was reported in several locations in southern Lebanon. According to Al Jazeera, unmanned aerial vehicles struck the vicinity of the town of Borj Qallawiyah and the town of Deir Kifa. At the same time, Al-Mayadeen network, which is affiliated with the Axis of Resistance, reported that "three Israeli strikes were carried out within half an hour" targeting the city of Nabatieh, and that a drone strike was recorded against a motorcycle near the town of Borj Qallawiyah.
Additional reports point to extensive artillery strikes. The Telegram channel affiliated with the resistance, راصد العدו, noted that "artillery shelling targeted the towns of Shaqra and Braachit." Shehab Agency added that air strikes were carried out against neighborhoods in Nabatieh and the town of Yater, and also noted that air strikes occurred earlier in the morning in the towns of Srifa, Froun, Al-Ghandouriyeh, Qallawiyah, and Borj Qallawiyah.
The Palestinian and Lebanese reporting sources, such as Al-Quds Radio, emphasized that this is the first time in weeks that the Israeli Air Force has struck targets within the city of Nabatieh. Local media outlets, including Lebanon News, define the activity as "aggression" and "attacks by the occupation forces," using terminology that emphasizes the damage to civilian areas and local infrastructure in the Nabatieh District and nearby villages such as Toul, Harouf, and Maydoun.
