Intensive Political Contacts in Iraq: Prime Minister-Designate Ali al-Zaidi Visits Kurdistan
In a significant step toward forming the new government, Iraq's Prime Minister-designate, Ali Falah al-Zaidi, arrived for an official visit to the Kurdistan region. According to reports in واحد العراق, al-Zaidi is accompanied by a delegation from the "Coordination Framework" (الإطار التنسيقي), a political bloc that serves as a central force in the Iraqi arena.
According to reports from the Iraqi News Agency (واع) and Al-Sabah newspaper, al-Zaidi landed in the Kurdish region accompanied by the delegation with the aim of holding a round of political meetings. Various sources indicate that the visit is intended to tighten coordination with the region's leadership as part of the process of establishing the central government in Baghdad.
Within the framework of these contacts, it was reported in واحد العراق that al-Zaidi is expected to hold an official meeting with the leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Bafel Talabani, in Sulaymaniyah. Conversely, Rudaw Arabic, a media outlet identified with positions close to the leadership of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, confirmed that the region's Prime Minister, Masrour Barzani, welcomed al-Zaidi upon his landing at Erbil International Airport, which indicates the scope of the visit, transcending different political camps in Kurdistan.
