In a series of remarks published on April 30, 2026, the President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, attacked the Western presence in the Persian Gulf. According to reports from Qalat Al-Jazeera and Akhbar Palestine Al-A'ajila 24, Pezeshkian presented Iran as the "guardian of the security of the territorial waters and the Strait of Hormuz," and emphasized that it is committed to freedom of navigation for all countries, "except for hostile countries."

In reports conveyed by Qalat Al-Mayadeen, which is identified with the Axis of Resistance, the President emphasized that "responsibility for any insecurity in this maritime region rests with the United States and the Zionist entity." Pezeshkian added that the presence and interventions of foreign actors do not contribute to regional security, but rather constitute a "factor that stirs up tension and undermines stability in the Gulf."

Similarly, Al-Talfaziyon Al-Arabi and Akhbar Al-Ghad reported his remarks that the Gulf "is not a theater for imposing unilateral foreign wills," and that the region's security will be achieved only through "cooperation between coastal states." This position was also reinforced in Beirut Time, which echoed the call for the formation of regional security without external interference.
