[97503] The changing dynamics between Trump and Zelensky and the growing tensions with Moscow
Reports on a reassessment by Trump of Ukraine's achievements, alongside growing Russian frustration with American policy and questions regarding the future of Zelensky's leadership.
The tension between Russia and the US and the rapprochement between Kyiv and Washington
Against the backdrop of Ukrainian strikes deep inside Russia, Moscow is expressing growing frustration toward Washington. According to the КЛОЧОК channel, which is close to critical views of Russia, Kremlin officials are now accusing the US of "not fulfilling understandings" reached last summer in Alaska. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov hinted that those meetings were actually intended to allow Ukraine to "rearm." Conversely, the report notes that Washington has never confirmed the very existence of these agreements, and that the Russian frustration stems from the tightening of American sanctions on the energy sector at the initiative of Donald Trump.
At the same time, the personal relations between President Trump and President Zelensky seem to be undergoing a significant change. According to a report by the UA Stream channel, which cites the Financial Times, Trump expressed "admiration" for Ukraine's military achievements and its ability to conduct long-range strikes inside Russia during their meeting at the G7 summit in France.
The political commentary surrounding Zelensky's status remains optimistic among Ukraine's supporters. The ZN.UA channel, highlighting the analytical coverage of the Financial Times, notes that Zelensky "is managing to survive and even strengthen his position" despite the hostility from Putin and Trump alike. According to the analysis, it is possible that Zelensky will be the one who "laughs last" and remains in power in 2029, while acting as a catalyst for profound changes in Europe, whereas Putin's political future is in doubt due to the failures on the battlefield.
