According to the Telegram channel Хуевая Одесса, a "zames" (clash) took place inside a church, during which it was reported that a priest at the site was attacked. The reports were partially verified by the channel Одесса INFO, which described the event as a "raid," meaning a hostile takeover of the building.

The versions of the event from the different parties differ significantly:

• The narrative of the RT на русском channel: The channel, which is affiliated with the Russian government's positions, claims that "worshippers and priests from the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) were sprayed and beaten" during the attempt to take over the Alexander Nevsky Church. According to the source, security forces surrounded the site and prevented representatives of the Odesa diocese from entering.

• The narrative of the Шейх Тамир channel: This channel presents a sharply critical position toward the OCU (Orthodox Church of Ukraine). According to the channel's claim, "people in uniforms armed with batons blocked the entrance to the building" on June 23. It is further claimed that the priest was physically assaulted, prayer books were torn, and that this was a coordinated action by a private security company led by a local politician. The source notes that the local community, which has restored the building since the 1990s, was not invited to vote on transitioning to the OCU.
