The state-run IRNA news agency, which is identified with the positions of the government in Tehran, reported that the north-south lane on the Karaj-Chalus road, as well as on the Tehran-North freeway, have been closed to traffic until further notice.
Lieutenant Colonel Naser Kouli-Nia, head of the Traffic Information and Control Center of the traffic police, noted that the decision to close the roads was made due to exceptionally heavy traffic in the area. According to an announcement by the Telegram channel "Khabar-e Fori-ye Jang-e Iran", which usually reports on security incidents and current affairs, the congestion on these roads is defined as "extremely heavy traffic."
