Ukraine's Special Operations Forces (SSO) announced on June 23, 2026, the complete destruction of a railway bridge crossing the North Crimean Canal in the occupied territory. According to reports by Times of Ukraine, a media outlet associated with staunchly pro-Ukrainian positions, the operation was carried out in two stages: on the night of June 22, damage was inflicted on the track, causing one of the spans to collapse, and on the following night, when a Russian engineering unit arrived to repair the infrastructure, the Ukrainian forces completed the destruction of the bridge remnants and the mechanical equipment at the site.
The event received extensive coverage in Ukrainian channels, including STERNENKO and Україна Online, which highlighted the morale and logistical blow to Russia. The channel Реальна Війна noted that the strike was carried out near the village of Razdolnoye and distributed documentation of the operation presented by the SSO, illustrating the destruction of the infrastructure.
Military experts and commentators, among them Pavlo Lakiychuk, who was quoted in Ху Київ + and Україна, noted that the destruction of the bridge constitutes another blow to the Russian supply network in Crimea. According to him, while Russia avoids using the Kerch Bridge (Crimean Bridge) for explosive cargo for fear of Ukrainian attacks, the damage to alternative routes like the one over the North Crimean Canal significantly complicates Russian military logistics in the region.
