Unusual incident in Southern Lebanon: IDF thwarted a terrorist cell, Lebanon claims ceasefire violation
Security tensions were recorded today in Southern Lebanon following an exchange of fire in the Ali al-Taher ridge area. The IDF Spokesperson announced that its forces identified an armed terrorist cell operating near IDF forces in the security zone and posing an "immediate threat." In response, the forces attacked the cell north of the security zone to neutralize the danger.
Conversely, Hezbollah issued an official statement accusing Israel of a "blatant violation of the ceasefire," which the organization claimed it had respected until now. According to Lebanese media outlets, including the Lebanese National News Agency (as reported in Mannie's War Room), the fire was directed at a group of civilians and a municipal worker who were engaged in clearing rubble and recovering bodies from the ruins in Nabatieh al-Fawqa.
Lebanese media is reporting two dead and several wounded in the incident. At the same time, Abu Ali Express in English noted that this is an unusual event after days of relative quiet in the sector, as IDF forces were seen operating in the area of the village of Khirbet Silm with tanks and bulldozers.
The event highlights the narrative gaps between the sides: while the IDF emphasizes the obligation "to act to remove immediate threats" (as published in Daphna Liel), Lebanese officials present the incident as an action against civilian rescue forces, a claim that Hezbollah is utilizing to exert political pressure surrounding the ceasefire agreement.
