Destruction of the railway bridge over the North Crimean Canal
Ukrainian Special Forces (SSO) announced today, June 23, 2026, the complete destruction of a strategic railway bridge crossing the North Crimean Canal in the occupied territory of the Crimean Peninsula. Reports published on various Ukrainian Telegram channels such as Times of Ukraine, STERNENKO, and Україна Online, confirm that the bridge has ceased to exist following a series of precise strikes.
According to information disseminated by the Special Forces (SSO), the operation was carried out in two stages. On the night between June 22 and 23, the forces used drones to destroy the railway tracks and cause the collapse of one of the bridge spans. After Russia sent repair crews and heavy engineering equipment to the site, Ukrainian forces struck a second time on the night between June 22 and 23, destroying the engineering equipment and the remnants of the bridge structure, as reported by Суспільне Дніпро.
At the same time, military experts analyzed the state of Russian logistics in Crimea. In an interview with Radio NV, cited by Ху Київ + and Україна UA, Pavlo Lakiychuk, a Captain First Rank in the Ukrainian Navy Reserve, noted that "the Crimean Bridge is the last hope for the Russians." According to him, following previous strikes, the Russians are afraid to transport explosive materials across the Crimean Bridge, which places their military logistics in the south under heavy strain and high vulnerability.
Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, added on Новини.LIVE that Russian forces are desperately seeking alternative routes for supply shipments via the "land corridor." The operation against the railway bridge is seen as part of a broader Ukrainian strategy to disrupt the supply arteries of the Russian army on the peninsula.
