[96458] Sharp criticism by Netanyahu regarding the enforcement system; allegations of discrimination in compensation for protesters
The justice and enforcement system under fire
On this day, tension centers were recorded around the conduct of the enforcement and justice systems in Israel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sharply attacked the police and the prosecution during his testimony in his trial, complaining about the bias of investigations and the creation of a "fictional reality."
Eli Tsipori, known for his clear line of support for Netanyahu, quoted the Prime Minister's words according to which he was stunned to discover that "police investigators would lie point-blank to a prime minister." According to Netanyahu, as also reported on the Political Updates channel, this conduct is not consistent with a "search for truth" but constitutes a "gross miscarriage of justice."
At the same time, Yinon Magal, identified with right-wing positions, reported on allegations of discrimination in compensation paid by the police to protesters. Attorney Menashe Yado from the "Honenu" organization appealed to the Police Commissioner and the prosecution demanding explanations following the gaps in the amount of compensation given to left-wing protesters who were subjected to strip searches, compared to "meager" compensation received by right-wing protesters in similar cases. According to Yado, "the right-wing protesters did not receive in court rulings a quarter of the amount paid to the left-wing protesters."
