[96442] Political storm following Bennett's 'New Deal' plan and Netanyahu's call for armament independence
Political tension surrounding the future of Judea and Samaria and the Bennett plan
Former Prime Minister and chairman of the 'Together' party, Naftali Bennett, presented this week the "New Deal" plan, which includes a vision for a deep repair of state systems. In an interview on 'Kan 11', Bennett noted that his perception for the future of Judea and Samaria is based on the evacuation of illegal outposts and the definition of areas A and B as Palestinian autonomy. According to the Daniel Amram uncensored channel, Bennett argues that "the last government destroyed many of the state's systems" and that there is a need for "evacuation-construction" for state systems in order to restore security.
The plan sparked angry reactions from right-wing elements. According to the GLOBAL ANALYST channel, Israel Ganz, head of the Binyamin Council and chairman of the Yesha Council, sharply attacked the remarks and claimed that it is "the establishment of a terrorist state ten minutes from his home in Ra'anana" and a risk to millions of Israelis. Similar criticism was voiced by Amichai Chikli, who called the move "perpetuating the disastrous Oslo thesis." Elhanan Groner reports that Finance Minister Smotrich also reacted to the remarks, defining the Palestinian autonomy as a "terrorist state in the heart of the country."
Netanyahu: Ambition for armament independence
On the security level, the Israel News Uncensored channel reports that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a meeting with combat officers in the reserves in Gush Etzion, called for breaking dependence on American weaponry. "I very much appreciate the support we have received from our American friends, but we must free ourselves from dependence and build our own independent armament system," declared Netanyahu.
The Prime Minister emphasized that military and technological power will determine Israel's future in the next 30 years, calling for the continued strengthening of force and the training of generations of commanders, as part of the confrontation with Iran and its proxies.
